Volkswagen sale at an all time low after the emission controversy.

Sales of Volkswagen cars have slumped as low as 20% after the diesel emission scandal. According to a report all the cars under the iconic brands have been hit badly. In a report from Britain’s Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders new car registration increased by 3.8 % to 178, 873 I November but the Volkswagen brand of cars were badly hit. Sale of Audi brand of cars dropped by 4%, Skoda dropped by 11% and Seat was down by a whopping 24% in recent times.

The dent in the brand of Volkswagen will be difficult to recover as the car maker admitted falsifying carbon dioxide emissions deepening the biggest corporate scandal.

Other manufacturer like Ford and Vauxhall also showed a major drop in sales. The controversy has hit the market overall and the chance for its recovery is grim.

“November’s sales might have been boosted by some consumers delaying their purchases from October when the VW emissions scandal hit the headlines” said Samuel Tombs at Pantheon Macroeconomics said in a note.

Volkswagen AG to launch a India Specific Sedan soon .

German Auto giant Volkswagen is planning to roll out a India specific sedan soon from Its Pune plant .The company is also planning to invest Ra 720 crore in R& D in this sector. It also plans to add more product in its protfolio of cars in India . In a statement given by Andreas Lauermann Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd, President and Managing Director , ” We are following a long-term investment plan in India and with our latest investment we have reaffirmed our confidence in this growing automotive market. With the ramp-up of the new model, we will add more manpower and also create more jobs at our suppliers’ end”.

The investment will be made towards setting up equipments and ramping up the production of new compact sedan in the near future. This is the second step of investment after the engine assembly plant a year ago. Additionally, we will continue to invest further in increasing our productivity and efficiency,” Lauermann added. The new sedan is set to launch in Auto Expo in  February next year.  The company has so far invested more than 5500 crore in India at the Pune plant since the start of its operation in 2007.

Volkswagon to add digital to its armoury , will hire Ex Apple exec for digital transformation.

Volkwagon,the German car maker currently under lot of fire has decided to go for a digital transformaton.The company has roped in former Apple Director of Engineering , MAC project , Johann Jungwirth to provide digital edge to company.Johann previously worked for Mercedes-Benz as their CEO of the research wing.He spearheaded many projects there including the autonomous car and connected car project.Johann Jungwirt was with apple only for a year and has held half a dozen position in various technology positions in the Industry.

He was also believed to be working on the highly secret Project Titan, which was touted to be the Apple car project once favourite of the esteemed CEO Steve Jobs.
